Brighton Early Music Festival, widely known as BREMF, celebrates music from earlier centuries while exploring the ways historical performance can speak to contemporary audiences. Its programme brings together professional musicians, emerging artists, singers and instrumentalists in performances spanning early vocal music, chamber repertoire and historically informed opera.
Rather than treating early music as a museum piece, BREMF presents it as a living art form, rich with emotion, imagination and opportunities for reinterpretation. Concerts and associated events take place in venues across Brighton & Hove, creating opportunities to experience music in settings that complement its historical character.
The festival also supports emerging performers through training, mentoring and performance opportunities, helping to nurture the next generation of early-music specialists.
Its 2026 edition, Bringers of Dreams, explores the relationship between imagination, aspiration and the mysterious worlds evoked through music. For classical music enthusiasts and curious newcomers alike, BREMF offers an inviting introduction to a repertoire that spans centuries.
