Brighton Illustration Festival (BIF) celebrates the creativity, diversity and independent spirit of illustration. Bringing together artists, illustrators, printmakers, comic creators and visual storytellers, the festival provides a platform for contemporary illustration and the people who make it.
The event showcases a broad range of creative work, from limited-edition prints and illustrated books to comics, zines, ceramics and experimental visual projects. Visitors can discover emerging artists alongside established practitioners, meet the people behind the work and explore the connections between illustration, design, publishing and popular culture.
Alongside its exhibition and marketplace, the festival offers talks, screenings and practical workshops, creating opportunities for audiences to engage directly with artists and learn more about their processes. Its programme also includes activities for younger visitors and families, making illustration accessible to a wider audience.
BIF reflects Brighton’s independent creative culture, bringing together artists, collectors, students, publishers and curious visitors in a shared celebration of image-making. Whether discovering a new illustrator, buying an original print, exploring a handmade publication or taking part in a workshop, visitors can experience illustration as both an art form and a way of communicating ideas and stories.
