Brighton Science Festival encourages people of all ages to explore the world through experimentation, observation and play. Its programme brings science out of the classroom and into community spaces, offering opportunities to investigate everything from physics and chemistry to biology, astronomy and the science behind everyday experiences.
With a particular emphasis on making science engaging for children and families, the festival features practical workshops, demonstrations, puzzles and interactive activities. Rather than treating science as a collection of facts to memorise, it encourages visitors to ask questions, test ideas and discover the principles behind the things they encounter every day.
The festival's approach is informal and accessible. Activities are designed to stimulate curiosity and give participants the satisfaction of making discoveries for themselves, whether they are exploring simple experiments, investigating natural phenomena or encountering surprising scientific explanations for familiar objects and experiences.
Brighton Science Festival also connects with the wider educational life of the city and surrounding Sussex communities. Its organisers invite contributions and ideas from people passionate about communicating science, helping bring together a varied programme of activities and experiences.
For Brighton Curated, the festival adds an important dimension to the city's cultural calendar: a celebration of ideas and learning that complements Brighton's arts, music, film and literary events. It offers families a chance to share discoveries and reminds visitors that curiosity and creativity are not confined to galleries and performance spaces.
