On The Beach has become a prominent fixture in Brighton's summer music calendar, transforming the seafront into an open-air concert arena for a succession of major live performances. Launched in 2021, the event combines headline artists, large audiences and the unmistakable atmosphere of Brighton Beach.
Rather than following the traditional format of a single multi-day camping festival, On The Beach presents a series of separately ticketed concerts across several days. Its programmes span electronic music, dance, indie, alternative rock and established British acts, giving each event its own identity and audience.
The setting is central to the experience. Concerts take place on the beach beside Madeira Drive, with the sea and Brighton's famous coastline providing a striking backdrop to the performances. The combination of live music, summer evenings and the open-air location makes the event distinctive among the UK's urban music festivals.
Previous editions have featured prominent electronic artists and bands, helping establish Brighton as a destination for large-scale outdoor concerts. The 2026 programme included performances by Fatboy Slim, Madness, The Maccabees and Moby across two weekends in July.
On The Beach also reflects the continuing importance of Brighton's relationship with music and its seafront. The city has a long association with club culture, independent venues and live performance; the festival brings that musical identity into a large-scale public setting.
For visitors, the event offers an opportunity to combine a concert with a summer trip to Brighton, while for residents it has become another major feature of the city's busy outdoor events season.
