1 November 2026
Photoworks Festival brings contemporary photography into the cultural landscape of Brighton & Hove, inviting audiences to explore how images can illuminate the connections between people, places, histories and the natural world.
Its programme combines exhibitions with talks, workshops, conferences, portfolio reviews and opportunities for artists and audiences to exchange ideas. Works by emerging and established practitioners encourage visitors to look beyond the familiar and consider how photography can challenge assumptions, document change and imagine alternative futures.
The 2026 edition, Un/Stable: Lands, Anxieties, Dreams, explores uncertainty and possibility through themes including belonging, climate change, resilience and social transformation. Exhibitions and events are presented across the city in partnership with galleries, museums, educational institutions and independent creative organisations.
For Brighton visitors interested in contemporary art and visual culture, Photoworks offers an engaging way to discover innovative photographic practice while exploring the city's wider creative community.
