Natural Beauty Essentials for a Weekend by the Sea

It's summertime and Brighton beach is where it's at. Whether you're strolling along the seafront, browsing the independent boutiques in the North Laine or enjoying a healthy portion of fish and chips on the Pier, packing smart is key.

Aside from a hat, sunglasses and swimwear, sun protection is always at the top of my list. Green People's Scent Free Sun Cream SPF50+ is a great option for sensitive skin, offering broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection in a light, hydrating formula that's ideal for long days spent outdoors.

I'm also a fan of solid perfume. Not only is it refillable (in this case, housed in a chic aluminium tin), it's also a practical alternative to traditional fragrance. Tenth Muse has a beautiful range—my favourites are Clean Girl and Vanilla Afterglow—which slip easily into your pocket or handbag and can be reapplied throughout the day.

Brighton is also home to a growing number of innovative beauty and wellbeing brands. One that's firmly on my radar is My Skin Feels, whose microbiome-friendly skincare is formulated using rescued food waste, including by-products from the tomato, oat and olive oil industries. Their Daily Moisturiser is a must-have: deeply hydrating and nourishing, while also being more than 99% natural, vegan and dermatologically tested.

If travelling disrupts your sleep routine, Sweet Bee Organics' Sweet Sleep Magnesium

Butter is well worth including. Part of the brand's Summer Solstice Collection, it combines topical magnesium with nourishing botanical butters and essential oils to help soothe tired muscles and encourage a more restful night's sleep. I also always pack the Calming Roller for an instant aromatherapy boost between coffee stops and seafront walks.

From sustainable skincare to mindful wellbeing, these beauty brands perfectly capture the city's creative and adventurous spirit, helping you make the most of your weekend by the sea.
